Homeschool Science: Water Erosion Project

The girls are learning about weathering and erosion. We did a small project with rocks, water and a water bottle.

1. Find broken rocks
2. Get water bottle
3. Figure out mass in grams. I was thankful I still have the little scale from when I was selling on eBay.
4. Put rocks in water bottle.
5. Add water
6. Shake for 5 minutes
7. Drain rocks and water
8. Dry rocks
9. Weigh again and record new mass

The rocks lost about 2.5 grams. The girls love doing visuals. It's so much more fun than just reading a boring text. Science = 30 minutes. That's my kind of school work.

Kiley says: "It's funny people think the Colorado River eroded the Grand Canyon over millions of years. This only took 5 minutes for these rocks to lose 2 grams. I don't understand how scientists can not believe that Noah's flood made the Canyon"

Out of the mouths of babes. We should all have the faith and understanding of a child. Adults mess everything up.
